Miniature Chilli Fish

Ingredients:

For the Fish:

  • 1 pound white fish fillets, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Vegetable oil for frying

For the Chilli Sauce:

  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sweet chilli sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, minced
  • 1 teaspoon garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon green onions, chopped (for garnish)
  • Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions:

For the Fish:

  1. In a bowl, mix together flour, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
  2. Dredge the fish pieces in the flour mixture, ensuring they are well coated.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or a large, deep pan to 350°F (175°C).
  4. Fry the fish pieces in batches for 3-4 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy.
  5. Remove the fried fish from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to absorb excess oil.

For the Chilli Sauce:

  1. In a small saucepan, combine soy sauce, sweet chilli sauce, rice vinegar, honey, sesame oil, minced ginger, and minced garlic.
  2. Cook the sauce over medium heat until it thickens slightly, stirring occasionally.
  3. Toss the fried fish in the chilli sauce until they are evenly coated.
  4. Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds.
  5. Serve the miniature chilli fish bites immediately as a flavorful appetizer or snack.
