Filet-O-Fish Sandwich
Ingredients:
For the Fish Fillet:
- 4 fish fillets (cod, haddock, or another white fish)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- Vegetable oil for frying
For the Tartar Sauce:
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons sweet pickle relish
- 1 tablespoon finely chopped onion
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon capers, chopped (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
For Assembling:
- 4 hamburger buns
- Lettuce leaves
- Sliced American cheese (optional)
Instructions:
For the Fish Fillet:
- In a shallow dish, mix together flour, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika.
- Pat the fish fillets dry with paper towels.
- Dredge each fillet in the seasoned flour mixture, ensuring they are well coated.
- In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
- Fry the fish fillets for 3-4 minutes per side or until they are golden brown and cooked through.
- Place the fried fish fillets on a paper towel-lined plate to absorb excess oil.
For the Tartar Sauce:
- In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, sweet pickle relish, chopped onion, lemon juice, and capers. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Mix well.
For Assembling the Sandwich:
- Toast the hamburger buns until golden.
- Spread tartar sauce on both halves of each bun.
- Place a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each bun.
- Put a fried fish fillet on top of the lettuce.
- Optionally, add a slice of American cheese on top of the fish fillet.
- Top with the other half of the bun.
- Serve your homemade Filet-O-Fish sandwiches and enjoy the crispy and flavorful delight!
