Fried Rice for Dinner

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups cooked and chilled rice (preferably day-old)
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 cup diced vegetables (carrots, peas, corn, and bell peppers work well)
  • 1 cup cooked protein (chicken, shrimp, or tofu), diced
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 cup green onions, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

Step 1: Heat vegetable oil in a large wok or skillet over medium-high heat.

Step 2: Add diced vegetables to the pan and stir-fry until they are tender-crisp.

Step 3: Push the vegetables to the side of the pan and add the beaten eggs. Scramble the eggs until fully cooked.

Step 4: Incorporate the cooked protein into the pan, stirring to combine with the vegetables and eggs.

Step 5: Add the chilled rice to the pan, breaking up any clumps and ensuring an even distribution of ingredients.

Step 6: Pour soy sauce, oyster sauce (if using), and sesame oil over the rice. Stir well to coat everything evenly.

Step 7: Continue to cook, stirring occasionally, until the rice is heated through and begins to develop a slightly crispy texture.

Step 8: Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Step 9: Garnish with chopped green onions and serve the Fried Rice hot.
