Ingredients:

For the Chicken Filling:

  • 1 lb ground chicken
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
  • 1/2 cup water chestnuts, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup carrots, julienned
  • 2 green onions, finely chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the Sauce:

  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil

To Assemble:

  • Large lettuce leaves (iceberg or butter lettuce)

Optional Toppings:

  • Chopped peanuts
  • Sriracha
  • Cilantro leaves

Steps:

Chicken Filling:

Step 1: In a pan, heat vegetable oil over medium heat. Add chopped onions and garlic, sauté until fragrant.

Step 2: Add ground chicken and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon.

Step 3: Stir in soy sauce, hoisin sauce, and grated ginger. Cook for a few minutes.

Step 4: Add water chestnuts, julienned carrots, and chopped green onions. Season with salt and pepper. Cook until vegetables are tender.

Sauce:

Step 5: In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame oil to create the sauce.

Assemble:

Step 6: Spoon the chicken filling into large lettuce leaves.

Step 7: Drizzle the sauce over the filling.

Step 8: Optional: Top with chopped peanuts, Sriracha, and cilantro leaves.

Step 9: Fold the lettuce leaves to create wraps and secure with toothpicks if needed.
