Ingredients:

  3. Salt (optional)
  4. White vinegar (optional)

Instructions:

Step 1: Bring a pot of water to a gentle simmer. Add a pinch of salt or a splash of white vinegar if desired – these can help coagulate the egg whites more quickly.

Step 2: Crack a fresh egg into a small bowl or ramekin, ensuring the yolk is intact.

Step 3: Create a gentle whirlpool in the simmering water by stirring it with a spoon.

Step 4: Carefully slide the egg into the center of the whirlpool. The swirling water helps the egg white wrap around the yolk.

Step 5: Allow the egg to poach for about 3-4 minutes for a runny yolk or longer for a firmer yolk.

Step 6: Using a slotted spoon, carefully lift the poached egg from the water, allowing excess water to drain.

Step 7: Place the poached egg on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb any remaining water.

Step 8: Season with salt and pepper as desired.

Step 9: Repeat the process for additional eggs.
